On 01 July 2026, the Cooks River Alliance Secretariat wrote to The Hon Steve Kamper, raising concerns around the proposed Kogarah Golf Club Redevelopment. 10 August, we received a response to our letter to The Hon Paul Scully MP, regarding the proposed Kogarah Golf Club Redevelopment.
The response reads:
“Thank you for your correspondence on behalf of Mr Jason L’Ecuyer, Cr Clare Raffan and the Cooks River Alliance about the development application for State Significant Development (SSD) 84467726, the proposed Kogarah Golf Club Redevelopment.
I acknowledge the Alliances’ concerns regarding the level of community engagement undertaken to date, the potential impacts of the concept proposal on the Cooks River, and the indicative reference designs presented in the development applicant’s Environmental Impact Statement.
The Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure publicly exhibited the proposal from 10 June 2026 to 7 July 2026. The exhibition provided the opportunity for the community and interested parties to review the proposal and raise any issues or comments.
Following the exhibition period, the applicant is required to prepare a Submissions Report that addresses all submissions received from the public, special interest groups, Bayside Council, government agencies, and utility providers. The report must also respond to the issues raised by the Cooks River Alliance in its formal submission lodged during the exhibition period.
The Department will carefully consider the proposal, the Submissions Report and undertake its own detailed assessment in line with all applicable NSW Government policies and guidelines. As part of this process, the Department also considers all issues raised by the submissions and advice from agencies. Given the volume of public submissions which objected to the proposal, the Independent Planning Commission will consider and determine the development application.
